After Cole and Archie left the cabin, Melanie killed Juan and took Phoebe to be sacrificed, doing so to lure Cole out in the open.Ĭole appeared and gave up his blood to save Phoebe, with Melanie pointing Cole to the direction of the lake, where Bee emerged. In a later call, the villainess portrayed Cole as a psychopath repeating his stories about the cult, and feigned concern and distress after both fathers appeared. Afterwards, Melanie phoned Cole's father, Archie Johnson, regarding Cole, leading to both Archie and Juan (Melanie's father) heading to the lake to find their offspring. The villainess lashed out at the remaining members for their failure, and in response to Jimmy and Diego's refusal to continue their pursuit, the evil Melanie used her supernatural powers to kill both of them, leaving John to comply with her orders. Melanie sent her co-horts after Cole and Phoebe Atwell (the latter of whom walked into the cult surrounding Cole), though original members Sonya, Max, and Allison were all killed by the pair.

Following Melanie's heel turn, the deceased members of Bee's cult-John, Max, Allison, and Sonya-appeared at the boat, as they planned to participate in the blood ritual before sunrise. At that moment, Melanie turned heel by slashing Boom-Boom's throat with a saw after revealing that she wrote in the book, and it was also revealed that the three others were part of a newly-formed cult led by Melanie, who revealed her desire to become a famous influencer. Melanie attempted to explain that Cole did mention it but forgot, only for Cole to deny it and ask Melanie how she knew about the book. Melanie's attempt to divert away from the conversation included her mentioning the spell book used by the cult, with Cole later informing Melanie that he never told her about the book. During the party, the group engaged in a game of Spin the Bottle, which saw Melanie and Cole make out with each other, after which the others kept asking Cole about the cult. After finding out that his parents planned to send him to a psychiatric hospital, Cole escaped with Melanie, with both of them heading to a lake party along with Jimmy (Melanie's boyfriend), Boom-Boom, and Diego. The sequel took place two years after the events of the first film, with Melanie being the only person who believed Cole regarding his ordeal with Bee and the rest of the cult. Melanie's heel turn in The Babysitter: Killer Queen As the cult pursued Cole, Melanie ended up caught in the crossfire after Cole entered her house and informed her of everything that was going on, and it was during this point that Cole finally acted on his romantic affinity for Melanie and kissed her before leaving to fight against the remanining members of the cult.

As the film shows, Melanie is one of two characters who truly befriended Cole in the film the other being his babysitter, Bee, even after Bee's reveal as the leader of a demonic cult. Melanie first appeared in the original film, The Babysitter, and was introduced as the best friend and potential love interest of main protagonist Cole Johnson.
